Re: 7/13/84 and a Question of '77 |
Boys anted to do something special for Friday the 13th Lunar Eclipse. Was planned a few days ahead, word leaked out to some close to the know. People tried to get in from all over. This was the first night of a 3 night run at the Greeks
Next night encore - "Day Job"

Re: 7/13/84 and a Question of '77 |
I was there and am really glad I was "not in the know" since I got one of the great surprises of my years with the boys. After the second set, Phil steps to the mike and says something along the lines of "hang loose as we're going to try something special tonight" (those with auds can tell me exactly when it was and what he said - I'm going on memory). The boys come back on as a shooting star shoots across the sky while a big old full moon is sittng in the right hand corner over the Golden Gate from my vantage up on the hill (dancing in the paved corridor right below the grass). When Phil hit those first few notes, it was pure delight and pandemonium. One of my great moments at a show (as it was at Hampton when they broke out a ragged but momentous Box of Rain). Not a bad way to start a run that included Saturday, Sunday and then down the coast to two dates in Ventura (with some weird DNC moments in SF for the 84 convention in between).
